JOLIET, Ill. – The Evansville Otters will continue their three-game series against the Joliet Slammers Wednesday, hoping to get above .500 with a win.

The game will be a quick turnaround for the Otters after a 6-3 victory in Tuesday night’s series opener against the Slammers. First pitch is set for 10:05 a.m. from Joliet Route 66 Stadium.

In Tuesday’s game, the Otters never led by more than one run until the seventh inning when Toby Thomas’ two-run single put the Otters up by three against the Slammers.

Thomas had two hits to go along with his two RBIs.

Evansville’s Caleb Eldridge now sits with two home runs this season following a solo home run on Tuesday, pushing the team total to five as Zach Welz also went deep in the 6-3 win.

Last season, the Otters led the Frontier League with 99 home runs.

On the mound, Otters’ right-handed pitcher Luc Rennie will make his second start of the season.

Rennie started on Opening Night against the Washington Wild Things last Friday, taking a no-decision in five innings worked with eight strikeouts and allowing three runs.

Joliet will send right-hander Taylor Goshen to the mound Wednesday for his first start in 2018.

Goshen has one relief outing this season when he took the baseball for 1.1 innings pitched and surrendered two runs last Thursday at Florence.

Game coverage will be available on WUEV 91.5 FM and online at wuev.org with Sam Jellinek (play-by-play) on the call.

Fans can also follow Otters social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for game updates throughout the day.
