OTTERS SEEK 5TH STRAIGHT SERIES WIN

Evansville has won their first four series this season.

(FLORENCE, KENTUCKY) – The Evansville Otters (9-5) go for their fifth straight series win today when they play at the Florence Freedom (7-7).

First pitch is set for 4:05 pm CDT at UC Health Stadium in Florence, Kentucky.

Fans not attending the game can listen live to the Otters on WUEV 91.5 FM. Play by play announcer Mike Radomski will have the call with the pregame show beginning at 3:45 pm CDT.

Evansville lost the series opener at Florence 1-0 on Friday night on a ninth inning Sam Eberle game-winning single.

The Otters responded on Saturday by defeating the Freedom 1-0 on a seventh inning sacrifice fly from catcher Kolin Conner.

Evansville RHP Robert Ramer (3-0) pitched 7.0 scoreless innings of five hit ball yesterday for the win. Relievers Jose Velez and Brandon Shimo combined to keep Florence from scoring in the eighth and closer Orlando Santos (4th save) finished the final inning to preserve the 1-0 victory.

OF Chris Elder and INF Stephen Rodgers each had two hits each in the win.

The teams have combined to play 18 innings this weekend and there have only been two runs scored.

Tonight is the third meeting between Florence and Evansville this season (tied 1-1). The Freedom hold a 62-60 lead in the all-time series matchup.

Outfielder John Schultz has 9 career triples as an Otter and is one shy of tying the franchise record of 10 (David Robinson, Jason Clark, Eric Joseph).

First baseman Nick Schwaner needs one more double to tie Greg Alexander (43) for second most in franchise history. 

Outfielder Chris Elder has hit safely in six straight games.

The Otters have RHP Preston Olson (1-0,2.25 ERA) going against Freedom lefty Dave Middendorf (1-1, 4.95).
