FLORENCE, Ky. The Evansville Otters will look to take the series against the Florence Freedom in a Sunday rubber match.
Evansville (10-10) took the first game on Friday in a low scoring affair 3-1.
On Saturday, it looked as if the Otters would be heading into Sunday looking for a sweep as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead.
However, Florence (15-5) came back with a pair of five run innings to get an eventual 10-7 victory to even the series.
Florence remains the only team to be hitting .300 as a team this year in the Frontier League.
Lat night the Freedom recorded 13 hits against Otters pitching.
Evansville, like their opponent, also recorded 13 hits, including home runs from Jeff Gardner and Brandon Soat.
The Otters lead the league with 23 long balls this year.
Shane Weedman will take the mound for his fifth start of the year.
Weedman has struggled in his last three starts giving up five or more walks in each.
The right hander does still sit fourth in the league with 31 strikeouts on the year.
Last time out, Weedman gave up just two earned runs on four hits in a no decision against the River City Rascals.
Florence will rely on the arm of Jordan Kraus on Sunday.
Kraus, a right hander, boasts the lowest ERA of any starter for the Freedom after Cody Gray’s ballooned last night.
Kraus comes off a seven inning complete came shutout of the Southern Illinois Miners on Tuesday.
Kraus gave up six hits and walks just one en route to his third win of the season.
First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. CT.
Fans can listen to Sunday’s game live 91.5 WUEV. Lucas Corley will provide play-by-play coverage.
On June 6, the Otters will host Teacher Appreciation Night powered by the Public Education Foundation. On June 7, Deaconess is hosting Nursing Home Night and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a collectible poster. June 8 is a Bud Light Thursday and Working Distributors Night.
