SAUGET, Ill – The Evansville Otters close out the regular season Sunday with the series finale against the Gateway Grizzlies at GCS Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

Evansville is coming off an 11-2 loss to Gateway Saturday, but despite losing, the Otters still clinched a postseason bid with Schaumburg beating Windy City 4-1.

Evansville (52-43) had trouble in pitching and offensive production in the loss as Gateway (31-64) used seven runs in the first two innings to jump out to an early lead.

Two three-run home runs from Brent Gillespie and Brent Sakurai made it a 6-0 lead for Gateway in the first inning. In the second, Blake Brown added a third home run to make it 7-0.

Evansville got its only two runs of the night on a two-RBI ground rule double from Kolten Yamaguchi in the fourth.

Gateway added on to its lead later in the game. In the sixth, Brown hit an RBI double to score Brian Lees. With the bases loaded twice, both Dan Holst and Sakurai added RBIs with walks. A Jack Hranec RBI single finished the scoring to make it 11-2.

Shane Weedman struggled for a second straight outing. Weedman went just 1 1/3 inning after walking four batters, giving up four hits and hitting one as well.

Evansville will start Trent Lunsford in the series and regular season finale Sunday. Lunsford is 0-1 in six appearances with a 5.71 ERA.

Gateway will counter with Vincent Molesky on the mound. Molesky enters Sunday with a 7-7 record and 3.87 ERA. He has made 20 appearances in 2017—18 of them starts.

Fans can listen on 91.5 WUEV with Lucas Corley (play-by-play) and Zane Clodfelter (analyst) providing coverage. Preston Leinenbach will also make a special guest appearance.
