- Third baseman Kevin Hoef has been added to the Evansville Otters' 2010 roster. A Troy, Illinois, resident, Hoef recently graduated from the University of Iowa. A four-year starter, he holds the record of being hit by more pitches than anyone in school history (20 alone in 2008).
Hoef was a two-year All-Big Ten Academic Athlete, and was second team All-Big Ten in 2008. Hoef hit .357 with three home runs and 31 RBIs in 50 games leading off for the Hawkeyes in 2008. Hoef was selected in the 48th round of the 2008 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox, but chose to return to Iowa for his senior year.
As a senior in 2009, Hoef hit .294 with two home runs and 19 RBIs in 37 games.
Former Otter Ryan Brownlee, who played at Memorial High School and the University of Evansville, is an assistant coach at Iowa.
