Evansville native Travis LaMar pitched a hitless 1 1/3 innings in his Otters debut on Friday.
(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) – Down by a run in the bottom of the 13th inning, the Evansville Otters rallied back with an Estee Harris game-tying single and a Greg Alexander base-hit in the 8-7 win over the Florence Freedom.
The hit was the second consecutive walk-off hit from outfielder Greg Alexander who also had a game-ending two run home run against Lake Erie on Sunday.
Evansville trailed 6-0 until the Otters mounted a comeback. Jake Rogers hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Pat Rose singled in a run a few batters later to pull within four runs.
In the eighth, the Otters completed the comeback by scoring four runs against four different pitchers. Brandon Cohen hit a two-run single and newcomer Nick D’Amico inched Evansville within a run with a bases loaded single. Billy Killian then walked with the bases loaded as the Otters rallied back from down by six runs.
The game then became a battle of the bullpens as both teams fought for the upper hand. The Evansville bullpen allowed just two runs over nine innings as Florence kept the game tied into the 13th inning.
Justin Pickett added an RBI single in the top of the 13th inning against Otters lefty Patrick Crider but the Otters offense had one more rally left in them.
In the bottom of the inning, pitcher Julian Arballo remained in for his fourth inning of work. The righty found himself in trouble after a leadoff error as Estee Harris took advantage on a game-tying RBI single. Greg Alexander then followed with a single to right field as Evansville completed the comeback in the 8-7 win.
The Otters improve to 18-30 with the win as Florence drops to 19-30 overall.
