Windy City wins series opener 5-0

Otters pitcher Cameron Aspaas battled with Sean Toler throughout the night.

(CRESTWOOD, Ill.) – Sean Toler threw a complete game shutout as the Windy City Thunderbolts defeated the Evansville Otters 5-0 on Tuesday night.
The Thunderbolts scored first with an RBI double from Michael Torres but the Otters rallied right back.
In the third inning trailing 1-0, Evansville got back to back leadoff hits from Billy Killian and Andre Alvarado. Nick D’Amico then dropped down a sacrifice bunt but was called out by the home plate umpire. An argument ensued as assistant coach J.R. Seymour was then ejected from the game. The Otters were unable to score after the play and manager Andy McCauley was also ejected during the half inning.
The pitcher’s kept the score the same into the 7th inning when Windy City rallied with four more runs.
Ahead 5-0, Sean Toler stayed in the game for the final two innings. The right-hander retired 21 of the last 23 batters he faced in securing the Thunderbolts victory.
Toler improves to 5-0 with the win after giving up just two hits and three walks. The loss goes to Cameron Aspaas as the Otters starter yielded four runs in 6 1/3 innings pitched. Aspass is now 1-1 this season.
Windy City is 41-30 with the victory as Evansville is currently 28-43.
Both teams will meet again tomorrow night in the middle game of the three game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM CDT from Standard Bank Stadium.
