Champion will again get to throw in his hometown this season.
(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) – The Evansville Otters are proud to announce the signing of left-handed pitcher, and former North High School star, Adam Champion.
The pitcher joins the Otters from the Houston Astros organization where he threw for Tri-City and Lexington over the last two seasons. Champion is 4-3 in his career with 39 appearances in the minors. After signing with Evansville, Adam will be returning to the city where he was born.
“It’s nice to have a local sign with Champion,” said Otters manager Andy McCauley. “He should compete for a starting job. At the age of 24, he is a very capable lefty.”
Adam Champion played his college baseball at the University of Arkansas – Little Rock, where he started 35 of the 51 games he appeared in. The Otters see him as someone capable of succeeding in multiple roles.
"Adam can start or come out of the bullpen,” added Kevin Cope, the Director of Player Personnel for the Otters. “He did well last year with Houston. Adam does a good job with his location and it is nice to have a player drafted from Evansville on the roster."
