(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) – The Evansville Otters boosted their starting rotation with the signing of pitcher Dan Blewett on May 1st.

The right-handed pitcher has thrown in the Frontier League before when he was a member of the Normal CornBelters in 2010. Dan will be reunited with pitching coach Brooks Carey, who guided Blewett in Normal during his six win season.

“This is a big addition for Evansville,” said Carey. “I am very familiar with Dan and we expect him to join the top of the rotation. We are very excited to have him here.”

Blewett most recently pitched for Lake County and Fargo-Moorhead last season, collecting seven wins and building a 1.8 strikeout to walk ratio.

“Dan is a quality starter that we look forward to having in the rotation,” added Kevin Cope, the Director of Player Personnel for the Otters. “Dan has been in the league before and did very well.”

Dan Blewett and the Otters will be starting spring training this week at Historic Bosse Field.

Tickets are now on sale for the 8th annual exhibition game benefitting Jacob’s Village. The game will be played on Friday, May 11 at Historic Bosse Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm. General admission price is $4.00 as reserved seats will be selling for $6.00

Opening Day for the Otters at historic Bosse Field is Friday, May 18, 2012, when Evansville hosts the Washington Wild Things. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT, and season tickets are on sale now.
