--- Evansville was up by three runs early but Rockford fought back for a 13-8 win tonight at RiverHawks Stadium.
Evansville held a 3-0 lead to begin the game following a two-run home run from Runey Davis
. Rockford would then rally back to score the next six runs of the game and take the three run lead.
The Otters nudged back again in the fourth inning on a two-run homer from infielder Taylor Black
. It was the first home run for Black and Davis as members of the Evansville Otters.
Leading by just a run, Rockford responded with five more runs in the fifth and would go on to win the game 13-8.
Outfielder Javier Herrera went 5-for-5 in the win, recording the first cycle in RiverHawks history while also tying the franchise record for most hits and RBIs in a game.
The RiverHawks have now won back to back games, improving to 14-23 overall. With the loss, the Otters are now 15-23.
Right-hander Mike Lee (3-0) is the winning pitcher. Lee allowed five runs (two earned) in 5.0 innings. The loss goes to Evansville's starter Bryce Morrow
(2-4), who pitched 4.1 innings in the defeat.
Evansville and Rockford will meet again in the series finale Friday night at RiverHawks Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. as left-hander Matt Zielinski
(3-3, 4.27 Earned Run Average) will start for the Otters against fellow lefty Ziggy Vander Wall (3-1, 3.90 ERA).
