(FLORENCE, KY) – Estee Harris hit a two-run home run in the first inning but the Florence Freedom stormed back for an 8-4 home win over the Evansville Otters on Friday night.
Justin Jacobs had three runs batted in for the Freedom and pitcher Anthony Clark threw six solid innings in the win.
The Harris home run pushed the Otters ahead by two runs, but Florence rallied back for three runs in the bottom of the inning against Evansville starter Andrew Werner.
Third baseman Johnny Welsh added a solo home run and an RBI single later in the game as well as the Florence Freedom doubled their win total to two.
Evansville also debuted two new pitchers in the game as Jason Maxwell and Nathan Stewart made their season debuts.
Clark earned his first win of the season after throwing six innings and allowing just two runs. Andrew Werner tossed five innings for the Otters, but received his first loss of the season as he allowed five runs.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow when the Otters and Freedom continue the three game weekend series at Champion Window Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM EST.
