Otters fall short in 7-3 loss
 
(EVANSVILLE, In.) – The Normal CornBelters defeated the Evansville Otters 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at Bosse Field.
 
CornBelter third baseman Daniel Cox went 3 for 5 in the win including a three-run home run as Normal swept Evansville in the first series of the season.
 
Evansville starter Eduardo Perez struck out three batters in the first two innings and received the lead on a Jon Waltenbury double in the second inning.
 
Normal clawed right back in the next inning when Joe Hicks scored on a wild pitch and Phil Laurent plated another run on a double to right field.
 
Ahead 4-1, the CornBelters knocked Perez out of the game on a comebacker to the mound in the 5th inning and Daniel Cox hit a three run home run of off reliever Sam Heaps to pull ahead 7-1.
 
Evansville received an RBI single from Pat Rose and a broken-bat single from Frank Meade to make the score 7-3. Jason Furrow threw the final four innings of the game for the save in the Normal CornBelters win.
 
The Normal CornBelters will have Monday off before returning to Frontier League action on Tuesday with a road game at the River City Rascals.
 
The Evansville Otters continue the six-game homestand at Bosse Field tomorrow night when the Gateway Grizzlies come to town for three games. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM CST.

The game can also be heard on the radio beginning at 6:20 PM on WUEV 91.5 FM. Announcer Mike Radomski will have the play by play with Bill McKeon providing the color commentary.
